Toledo, Ohio, October 21, 2008 – The Northwest Ohio Green Building Council (NWOGBC) is proud to announce their launch of the newest chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The chapter will be holding its first annual meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2008 from 5:45 PM – 7:45 PM in the Nairobi Pavilion at the Toledo Zoo. Attendees will meet the current board and committee chairs who will present the “next steps” for Ohio’s newest chapter. This will include an overview of how the chapter will implement its mission of changing the built environment in Northwest Ohio. Examples of what other USGBC chapters are doing will also be presented. Attendees will learn more about how the chapter’s committees are helping achieve the goals of the NWOGBC.
Serving 25 counties in Northwest Ohio, the NWOGBC is bringing the latest green building tools, LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) resources, education and outreach opportunities to Northwest Ohio while encouraging community involvement and leadership opportunities through the vision of the USGBC.

U.S. buildings currently consume 72% of all the electricity produced, use 39% of our energy, emit 38% of all carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, extract 40% of raw materials used, create 30% of landfill waste, and account for 14% of potable water usage.We will collaborate with other relevant organizations to advocate, educate and support change towards greener living.”
